Eligibility

Iris Project Residency encourage applications from creatives of diverse backgrounds and disciplines. We accept applications from artists working in the visual arts, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, curation, poetry, and literature. Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply, but applicants must demonstrate five years of dedicated experience in their chosen field.

Duration

Residency durations are a minimum of one week to a maximum of four weeks.  

Accommodation

The residency is housed in a converted carriage house with a full kitchen, full bathroom, on-site laundry and an outdoor shop sink. The detached work studio has simple painted plywood walls and ample natural light. There are no fees charged by the Residency, but residents are responsible for their own travel, meals, and supplies. Residents are not allowed to leave any work behind, but the frame store conveniently located next door can pack and ship work for your return. The residency and studio are on ground level, but unfortunately are not fully wheelchair accessible at this time. Linens and basic kitchen equipment are provided. The residency is located in a residential neighborhood, residents are required to respect the tone and tempo of our neighbors. Guests may be permitted on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that there are two professionally maintained beehives elsewhere on the property, residents with severe allergies to bee stings should contact us before applying.

Application Process

Applicants must apply through our online application. The application portal opens January 1st, acceptance letters are sent out at the end of February.   • Three to Five images/work samples not exceed ten (10) images. ten (10) pages of text or five (5) links to video works.

  • Short Bio

  • C.V.

  • Demonstration of five years actively pursuing your profession (this can include publications, exhibitions, and/or postgraduate education)

  • Non-binding proposal for your time at the residency

  • Letter of Recommendation and/or References (optional)

  • Preferred duration and dates, if known

  • Conflicts/commitments when unavailable, if known
