The Iris Project Residency in Echo Park, California, aims to provide artists, curators, writers, and creative thinkers from various backgrounds and disciplines with the space and time needed to explore and expand their artistic practices. We believe that new ideas and perspectives flourish when creativity is free from the pressures of production and material exchange. Our mission is to ensure that the benefits of this residency extend beyond the program itself, enriching the broader creative community.
Artist Mark Licari and curator Kate Rosenheim manage the Iris Project Residency. It is a sponsored project of Venice Arts, a non-profit arts service organization. We are proud to partner with The Ford Family Foundation, Yucca Valley Material Lab, and DucatoPrize.
Three low-cost residencies are awarded each year. Residents are responsible for covering their travel expenses, meals, and art supplies. Recipients of the residency are not required to publish, exhibit, or perform their work. The Iris Project Residency offers artists various development opportunities and fosters engagement with the Los Angeles art community.
